Character pictures are a form of Ukiyo-e in which words are hidden within the images. In the Edo period, people enjoyed learning language and values through these artworks. Featuring moral concepts such as mottainai and arigato, this andon lamp brings Japanese tradition and atmosphere into the space through light.
